'Using The Literary Curriculum has transformed English across our school. Children's writing has become so much more creative, purposeful, independent and of high quality. The variety of texts available have left our children and staff enthused - couldn't recommend it more highly.'
Hannah Baker, Vice Principal, Highgate Primary Academy, Rotherham
The Literary Curriculum is a complete, thematic approach to the teaching of primary English that places children’s literature at its core.
Children explore over ninety literary texts and experience at least seventy-five unique significant authors as they move through the school.
As a whole-school approach, it provides complete coverage of all National Curriculum expectations for writing composition, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary, as well as coverage of spelling, phonics and reading comprehension. All plans lead to purposeful application within a wide variety of written outcomes. How it Works

The terms ‘publishing’, ‘published writing’ or ‘published outcomes’ are often bandied about – we’ve definitely been mentioning them a lot during our recent moderation visits, but what do they mean…
Our flagship schools have been chosen for their innovative use of our book-based approach across the curriculum. They have adopted and adapted our planning sequences to complement their own topics or use our themes. Our flagship schools enjoy sharing how they have used the sequences to support engagement and raise attainment in English with new schools looking to change their pedagogy and curriculum. If you wish to visit any of these schools, we can arrange a suitable time to visit. Alternatively, if you are interested in finding out about becoming a flagship school, do contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org
