"I understand how the process works a lot more. It has given me insight about how to sequence lessons."
Sarah, Colburn Community Primary School, Autumn 2023
A whole-day year-specific course covering practical strategies for using high-quality children's literature as the primary approach to the teaching of English. This course is ideal for people who are new to Literacy Tree or changing to another year group.
The course covers the pedagogy and the approach but one section of the day exemplifies this using a focus text and goes through each aspect. The book we will be exemplifying with is Dadaji's Paintbrush by Rashmi Sirdeshpande. We will be looking at this online but if you prefer to have a physical copy, please purchase in advance.
"It was lovely to get ideas from other practitioners who had already had experiences with some of the texts."
Vicki, St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Autumn 2023
"I enjoyed the discussion and sharing of the key teaching points in the writing root e.g. grammar splat, lucky dip, on the dot or not."
Abigail, Field Court C of E Infant Academy, Autumn 2023
"Provided a tremendous impact that will further help me bring new texts to life and peak the children's interest and curiosity."
Francesca, St Michael's Primary School, Autumn 2023
All our courses support the Reading for Pleasure agenda and strengthen teacher’s knowledge of how to use text in the classroom
