"The course helped me understand the planning format more and how I can extend and add my own ideas."
Emma, Higher Walton CE Primary School, Autumn 2023
A whole-day year-specific course covering practical strategies for using high-quality children's literature as the primary approach to the teaching of English. This course is ideal for people who are new to Literacy Tree or changing to another year group.
The course covers the pedagogy and the approach but one section of the day exemplifies this using a focus text and goes through each aspect. The book we will be exemplifying with is Ning and the Night Spirits by Adriena Fong. We will be looking at this online but if you prefer to have a physical copy, please purchase in advance.
"I appreciated the inspiring ideas to support the Writing Root and having the opportunity to discuss with other professionals."
Rachel, Hampton Lucy C of E Primary School, Autumn 2023
"It was really useful to be 'walked through' a Writing Root to see how it works in the classroom. It was also really helpful to be able to chat with other practitioners with regard to planning the next unit, especially as I haven't used Literacy Tree before."
Sharon, Asterdale Primary School, Autumn 2023
"It was very useful having the consultant read the story and talk through with different resources being used as you would use in school."
Alexandra, Malmesbury Primary School, Autumn 2023
