Cautionary Tales

A year on from the first national lockdown and it would be safe to say we have all learnt a thing or two about ourselves in the last twelve months.  Some of those lessons will have been obvious (the benefits of slowing down, anyone?), while others apparent through a little more reflection.  No matter what, we will have all been reminded of the power of collective support in guiding us through the most difficult of times.

And so, it was with slight trepidation that we ventured into updating our list of cautionary tales for children. For, while each story’s protagonist has an important lesson to learn, we hope that no-one out there has had to endure such dramatic fates as these heroes in the past year!

These hilariously dark tales would be brilliant to read aloud and perform with children, in class or at home, and are perfect for teasing out messages about the oh-so-current absurdities of life.  Above all, they provide us with witty reminders that sometimes it’s wise to heed the advice of others - even if we think we know better! Caution is the key...
