This is a three-week sequence for Romeo and Juliet (Real Reads retold by Helen Street). It is up to the teacher’s discretion which version of the Romeo and Juliet films to use. The 1698 version directed by Franco Zeffirelli is perhaps the most appropriate and a more traditional interpretation. However, sections of the 1996 Baz Luhrmann version should be used also in order to contrast and compare. Time permitting, an upbeat way to end the sequence might be to watch Gnomeo and Juliet (2011)
