Training

Please book any courses with confidence that all our courses will run within the guidelines of any recommendations made regarding social distancing at this point in time. We are planning to run these courses in the Literacy Tree training space which is cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis. If it is not possible to run these courses in the normal manner, we will be taking them online and will ensure any training resources, including books, are available for delegates to pick up from the space at a distance before the course takes place. Where it is not possible for a delegate to pick up their books and resources we will try our best to arrange a delivery.

We strongly believe literature is vital to the teaching of literacy and English, so our training is always book-based, supporting the Reading for Pleasure agenda and our own mission statement of strengthening teacher’s knowledge of how to use literature in the classroom.

All our training combines both practical ideas and the pedagogy behind them, immersing delegates within the theme of the book, taking them on a journey through a text whilst drawing upon drama techniques and props to bring a book alive, all whilst covering the requirements of the National Curriculum.

Feedback from our 2019 training:

“Great ideas to take straight back to the classroom. Well thought out and well delivered”
Kertrina Law, Crampton Primary School.

“Fantastic ideas, loved the way vocab teaching was explored and demonstrated. Thank you for the fantastic training sessions!”
Megan Whitton, Boutcher Primary School.

“A fantastic course that I really enjoyed. It's really helped me visualise how to apply the ideas in my. classroom. I'm excited about teaching these texts in my classroom ”
Shauna Colton, St Vincent de Paul Primary School

“Absolutely superb text choices - up to date and directly linked to our curriculum. Amazing ideas that I can't wait to use!”
Danielle Bending, Talavera Primary School.

Each delegate receives a Literacy Tree tote bag with resources and the books for each course.

Courses begin at 9:30 and finish around 3.45pm (unless otherwise stated).
