Teaching Through Text using the Literary Curriculum

A one-day course for new teachers in a Literary Curriculum school or for English/Literacy leads looking to take this approach on in their school. Our embedded approach to the teaching of primary English will be actively demonstrated.

This course will cover –

How the Literary Curriculum provides coverage of the contents of the entire programme of study for English, including spelling and reading comprehension
An overview of the books used within the Literary Curriculum and what makes a quality teaching text
How we create meaningful contexts for writing using children's literature by embedding grammar and composition

We will do this by –

Giving delegates the opportunity to look at children's books where the Literary Curriculum has been used
Modelling how shared writing, as part of the embedded approach, can be used effectively within the teaching of English
Demonstrating a variety of engaging activities that can be applied to planning
