Greater Depth at KS1

 Please book with confidence that all our courses will run within the guidelines of any recommendations made regarding social distancing at this point in time. We are planning to run these courses in the Literacy Tree training space which is cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis. If it is not possible to run these courses in the normal manner, we will be taking them online and will ensure any training resources, including books, are available for delegates to pick up from the space at a distance before the course takes place. Where it is not possible for a delegate to pick up their books and resources we will try our best to arrange a delivery.

Greater Depth in Writing at Key Stage One

A half-day course where practical strategies for achieving greater depth in writing at KS1 will be explored.

This course will –

  • Strengthen teacher subject knowledge of how to provide opportunities for greater depth using text
  • Explore a range of contexts and writing opportunities that support children to achieve greater depth
  • Consider how to plan for challenge within English
  • Share the grammatical and compositional elements of writing that support writing at greater depth
  • Demonstrate a variety of engaging activities that can be applied to planning

Participants will receive –

  • One high quality children’s book
  • A planning sequence that supports achieving 'Greater Depth' 
  • All training resources electronically
